We just celebrated my son's second birthday and I realized I never shared his first birthday party decor! We did a first rodeo theme and I made nearly all the decor myself using items I had around the house. I love repurposing trash! Below is a list of DIYs, supplies, and instructions.
First Rodeo Sign
- Painted letters on cardboard, cut and lined with yarn.
- Cut RODEO letters out of cardboard and wrapped with twine.
High Chair Wrap
- Used scrap fabric and looped around a piece of yarn that was measured to fit around the top of the tray.
- Used a hot glue gun and yarn to write "one" on another piece of scrap fabric which I looped over the yarn.
- Threaded wooden beads through additional pieces of yarn and added to the wrap.
Wagon Wheels
- I did two versions of these. For both, use a kids size hula hoop and painters tape (or duct tape) to make the wheel spokes.
- For one, I used scrap fabric and wrapped around the wheel.
- For the other, I wrapped twine around the wheel and spokes.
Log Cabin (video below)
- Formed the structure of the cabin using a large cardboard box. Mine was from a new carseat.
- Used leftover paper towel rolls and toilet paper rolls to create "logs" and spray painted brown.
- For the roof, I used pieces of cardboard that I cut to look like shingles and spray painted black.
Utensil Holders
- Recycled formula cans wrapped in scrap fabric.
Wooden Cactus
- Found these at dollar tree and wrapped in twine.
