Stuffed animals, including a lion, dogs, and a sloth, wear party hats in a wooden wagon. Books in the background; cheerful setting. DIY toddler craft

My son's second birthday is coming up and I'm always looking for ways to make birthdays extra special. I created these mini party hats using scrapbook paper and yarn! You could also use construction paper if you have that on hand. I love how these came out and can't wait for him to see them.

SUPPLIES

- Paper

- Scissors

- Hot glue gun

- Yarn

STEPS

  1. Use a round object to trace a half circle on your paper, then cut it out.

  2. About 1/4 the way up one side, draw a diagonal line and cut. It doesn't have to be perfect!

  3. Fold the paper together to form a cone and hot glue to secure.

  4. With your index and middle fingers together, wrap yarn around 20 times.

  5. Using an additional piece of yarn, tie a knot around the center so that there are loops on both sides of the knot (see video).

  6. Trim loops and fluff.

  7. Hot glue pom pom to top of paper cone and place on stuffy!
