While decorating our mantle for the fourth, I needed more pillows to accessorize around the fireplace. I'm an immediate gratification kind of gal. I didn't have time to run to Home Goods so I grabbed an old scarf and got to work. Last year, I made a couple of Halloween pillows using fabric and a hot glue gun. I have a sewing machine but this method is SO simple and quick. The entire project took me maybe 30 minutes. You could use any fabric - an old t-shirt, towel, sheet, etc. Follow along for step by step instructions and let me know how yours turns out!
SUPPLIES
- fabric
- fabric pen/chalk (optional, you could eyeball it, I did a little bit of both)
- hot glue gun
- stuffing (I used stuffing from an old pillow)
STEPS
Cut two pieces of fabric into desired shape. I find it easiest to layer the two pieces on top of each other and cut both at the same time so they are identical.
Hot glue the edges together, leaving an opening just big enough for your hand to fit in.
With one hand inside the pillow, turn it inside out so the hem is now on the inside of the pillow.
Fill with stuffing to desired size. I use a pencil or popsicle to get the stuffing down into the tips of each point.
Once full, carefully hot glue the opening shut.
Fluff to desired shape.
